Madison Ella Trottier

Madison was born on March 6. We went to the hospital at 7:00 that morning so I could be induced. I was started on Pitocin at 8:00 and dilated to a 3.5 when we got there. A doctor came in to break my water at 8:45, and I was dilated to a 5.5 at 10:30. I was trying to hold off on getting the epidural to prove to Tim how tough I was but I only lasted until I was at a 6. I was stuck at an 8 for a few hours but when my doctor came to check on me at 3:45 I was at a 10 and he said it was time to push. He got everything ready to go and I started pushing at 4:00. She was born at 4:06 PM. She was 8 lbs 4 oz and 19 inches long. So far Madison has been quite a bit easier than her brother was. She has spit up a few times, but not on a regular basis like he was. She doesn't have any eczema yet like he constantly had (has). She's a pretty good sleeper and will sleep 3.5 to 4 hours between feedings at night. She's a very gassy baby, but such is the Christensen curse. We discovered this past week that she hates sleeping in the dark, so we have to turn on the light in our shower and put her bassinet where the light will shine directly on her. I prefer to sleep in pitch black or it will keep me awake, so this has been tricky. We already planned on moving her upstairs to her room when she is sleeping through the night, but now I am even more excited for that day to come. We went to her two-week checkup yesterday and she weighed 8 lbs 14 oz and was 20.5 inches long.
This was her first picture. Her cheeks aren't quite so chipmunk-like anymore.

Tim took this right after her first bath.

Joshua was very excited to meet his baby sister.

I tried nursing and it just didn't work out, so instead I am pumping again. I decided I was only going to pump every 4 hours this time to make it more bearable, and then I don't pump at all in the night. Tim and I figured that I am pumping about 60 oz a day, and right now my supply is one week ahead.

She definitely has lost the chipmunk cheeks, but she still reminds me of her mom. Glad she is still sleeping well and that you're able to handle things better than your first experience.
