A Bat or a Bat?

This post will be dedicated to my cousin Marc, who appreciates stories like this one.
A few Sunday's ago at my mom's house Terra, my mom, and I were sitting at the kitchen table when Cole came downstairs and mentioned something to my mom about recognizing the fire bat that he saw in her bedroom. Since I'd never heard of such a thing I asked what it was. They explained that it was to keep by your window so you could break it easily if there was a fire in your house and you needed to escape. Being the genuis blonde that I am, these words came out of my mouth, "And then what, it just flies away?" They both looked at me like I was crazy and then busted up laughing. My mom shed a few tears because she was laughing so hard, and I'm 98% sure that Terra peed her pants, though she denied it. At this point I'm laughing too, mostly because they were. Despite all the laughter I was still really confused as to why my mom would keep such a creature by her bed. It was then that I decided it was probably a mechanical bat that you program to go to the fire station to get help for you. Imagine the reactions I got when I explained this theory! After we all pulled ourselves together they explained that it's just a small baseball bat, not some sort of programmable bat that would save her life. Clearly my idea was cooler.

Oh Leesa. You are definitely on of a kind. I love that you were able to find a photo of a wind-up bat. Perfect!

Leesa, Leesa. Let me clear up the fact that my pants were dry, it was close though. I love the picture, it made me laugh, again.

Yes, a fire bat. Pretty confusing concept. I'll be sure to read this one out loud to Cory.
