Another Blast From the Past

I don't think it is a coincidence that all my funny stories have something to do with cops or speeding tickets. So here is another entertaining Leesa story:

My boss at Gandolfos bribed me with my very own gallon of Dryer's Chocolate Brownie Blast if I would be on time that morning, for the first time in a long time. As you can imagine I would do just about anything for chocolate ice cream so I was determined to get there at least five minutes early to prove I deserved it. In my rush to work I got pulled over about five blocks away from Gandolfos but I decided to just keep going and meet the cop in the parking lot. Apparently, from what the angry cop told me, that makes it look like you are trying to run away from him. So it took up the extra five minutes I allotted myself to explain why I pulled into that particular parking lot and the reason I was speeding in the first place. He told me he had never heard such a ridiculous excuse and was going to give me a ticket anyway but he walked back to his cop car laughing, which I took as a good sign. So when he came back with my ticket I asked him if he happened to notice what time we pulled in the parking lot, which he did. Then I asked if he wouldn't mind writing that on the corner of the ticket with his initials, just so I had enough proof to get my ice cream. He laughed some more and offered to go into Gandolfos with me and introduce himself to my boss, he was probably kidding but I thought it was a brilliant idea. Fortunately for him though he got a call on his walkie-talkie and had to leave. I still admire that tough cop for being able to look past my incredible sense of humor and obvious charm and still give me a ticket. It must have been pretty hard for him.

I remember that! I was standing there cutting meat, and I looked up and saw the police car with its lights on coming into the parking lot.

I said "Oh, look. Leesa's here."

I remember hearing that story and it is just as funny the second time! So...did you you get the ice cream or not? I'm dying to know!

I sure did! Only out of pity though.

You never fail to keep to the task at hand even when you are being followed by a loud, flashing cop car!

Hmmmm, never RACED to work to be on time when you were working for ME. Then again, I didn't feel I should have to BRIBE an employee to be at work on time. You're lucky you're likable, Leesa! Are you ever on time to your current job?
